The Lunchroom is looking for a full-time Front Counter Associate | Host who is friendly and outgoing to join our team. As the first impression for our guests, this role is key to achieving our goal of delivering a memorable experience for all who dine with us. We offer a small team where all team members’ contributions are valued.

The Lunchroom sits inside SPACE 519, recently featured in The New York Times, one of Chicago’s top fashion and lifestyle destinations. Located just off Michigan Avenue in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, SPACE 519 is a small department store featuring The Lunchroom, a 40-seat breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch restaurant with an all-day café. The Lunchroom is winner of “OpenTable Diner’s Choice’, Chicago Magazine’s ‘Hot List’, and Modern Luxury ‘Brunch Buzz.

The Front Counter Associate will be profession and polished in appearance; gracious and friendly in demeanor; and ready to deliver exception service to the store’s upscale clientele. Previous restaurant | café experience, excellent communications skills and a positive energy are required. Experience with Resy and operating a manual espresso machine preferred – computer proficiency and phone etiquette are both mandatory.

General Responsibilities + Expectations:

 Ensure a professional and friendly communication style with all guests during service, on the phone or during email communication.

 Have full knowledge of each table’s service status and use that information to give guests the best seating experience possible.

 Ring all to-go food and beverage items and properly handle payments with 100% accuracy.

 Maintain knowledge of all food and beverage offerings, including: ingredients, methods of preparation and proper service; be able to explain all food and beverage items listed on the menu.

 Assist with daily setup and breakdown of the dining area and midday resets, as needed.

 Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.

 Work in tandem with management to create new promotions for The Lunchbox.

 Monitor sales of Lunchbox items and report back to management on sales trends and popularity.

o This includes restocking all Lunchbox items and keeping track of all inventory.

 Responsible for all sampling and wine tasting in The Lunchbox.

o This includes creation of sample calendar | schedule.

o Pitching wine tastings and pairings to management

 Work with Marketing Manager on social media and catering outreach.

 Weekend and morning availability.
